Los Ovnis were one of Mexico City's best bands during 1965, 1966 and into 67. Armando Vazquez is a very engaging singer and their arrangements were always tight and dynamic. When Luis Alanis played organ his parts were well thought out. After Ernesto de Leon joined they had a serious guitarist as well. Like all the other Mexican bands Los Ovnis played covers, but in 1968 they released an album with only one non-original song—The Doors' «Light My Fire» — and wild organ sounds. «Hippies» is very much of its moment with song titles like «Mi Protesta» and «Infinito.». — Randal Wood. |
